Ms Dragana Savcic-Sanders is a Counselling Psychologist with 20 years of experience in the secondary and tertiary NHS psychological services. Ms Savcic-Sanders has developed an expertise in working with adults presenting a wide range of conditions related to the secondary and tertiary level of services. The range of presentation varies from anxiety-related disorders, depression, early childhood abuse/complex trauma, single trauma, eating disorders, coping with illness, personality disorder, anger; self esteem issues, inter-relational and intra-relational difficulty.
Ms Savcic-Sanders is highly experienced in providing assessment and trauma-focused therapy for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as well as providing consultancy, group work and psycho-educational programmes. Ms Savcic-Sanders has a special clinical interest in the psychological impact of traumatic experiences including childhood sexual abuse as well as any abuse-related experiences, accidents, traumatic losses, complex bereavement, rape and political crime including torture. Her varied expertise and experience allows her to tailor the best approach according to clients’ needs.
Ms Savcic-Sanders originally trained in ex-Yugoslavia (Croatia) where she was awarded MSc in Psychology and has been instrumental in the provision of a specialist psychological service in a London-based trauma service for the survivors of prison camps. Ms Savcic-Sanders is currently coordinating the Complex PTSD team in the north London NHS Mental Health Trust.
Ms Savcic-Sanders is fully trained in the Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing therapy (EMDR) which is a recommended treatment for PTSD by the NICE (National Centre for Clinical Excellence). She is further trained in Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) and systemic therapy.
The process of CAT involves looking at patterns of relating and the effect they can have on the individual and their relationships with others. CAT can be an effective therapy for depression, anxiety and the treatment of borderline personality disorder. It is also a recommended approach for the treatment of eating disorders such as anorexia. If you are coming to therapy feeling troubled by your relationships with other people, then CAT might be the appropriate therapeutic approach for you.
Ms Savcic Sanders adheres to the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy with both HCPC and BPS.
